About Me

I am a final year Bachelor of Nursing student at Manukau Institute of Technology with a passion for providing compassionate, person-centred, and culturally safe care. My background in Psychology and clinical research has strengthened my understanding of holistic healthcare, communication, and patient advocacy.

Through clinical placements across medical, surgical, child health, mental health and community settings, I have developed skills in clinical reasoning, comprehensive assessment, therapeutic communication, and multidisciplinary teamwork. I am committed to lifelong learning and growing as a reflective practitioner.

Personal Nursing Philosophy

My decision to become a nurse grew from my interest in understanding people through Psychology and was strengthened during my nursing placements, where I saw the difference compassionate nursing care can make during vulnerable moments of a person's life.

I believe nursing is more than completing clinical tasks. It is about building trust, showing compassion, advocating for others and treating every person with dignity and respect.

My practice is guided by person centred care, evidence based practice, Jean Watson's Theory of Human Caring and the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

I am committed to providing culturally safe care through partnership, protection, participation, options and tino rangatiratanga while supporting equitable health outcomes for Māori and all communities.
